Proposal for Cultural Center in the heart of El Raval. The site strategy preserves and commemorates two thousand year old Roman aqueducts. A field of columns fill the void in a dense urban fabric, through which a perforated metal wall fabric is woven. The columns provide not only structure and lighting, but assist in heating and cooling strategies through heat stack effect and evaporative cooling. The meander of the plan alludes to the spontaneous discovery of a city through chance encounters, while allowing open air terraces to occur at all levels.
